You may have to take a risk but you don’t have to do it alone 🏠

In the first week of 2022 I put a two year, month-by-month, poster-size calendar on the wall in our kitchen. It wasn't an aesthetically pleasing addition to my recently updated industrial farmhouse vibe, but it was a bold statement about what it would take to get us from the traditional $430k mortgage and corporate jobs in Florida to our mortgage-free tiny home in New Mexico.

It seemed overwhelming those 24 squares on the calendar, the house and shop full of possessions, the unseen path to fulfilling work in a very rural place. But I grabbed a pad of turquoise sticky notes and took a stab at 3 goals per month.

There were milestone events to calendar, obligations to add to the planning but plenty of room for micro actions and small projects that would all build toward the monumental shift we intended. Though it seemed far off and barely feasible, we put one foot in front of the other and got started.

In that moment at the start of 2022, being the “planner” in our household, I yearned for a thinking partner who had done this before. Someone who could backup our decisions with the success stories of others, who could help me catch the things I was forgetting about.

There was no one for me, no professional consultant I knew who could help me essentially redesign-as-tiny every aspect of our lives and finances in order to maximize our life. There was no one to help me figure out how to financially shift our resources confidently toward the massive cost of relocating and two business startups. And, mostly, there were few people in my circle who shared my values and understood the impact I was trying to make on our immediate and long term future.

Unlike me, YOU don't have to go it alone. There are now tiny living consultants who can partner with you, bring ideas that have worked and cheer you on as you make progress.
